About Bike Walk Louisiana

What we do.

Bike Walk Louisiana is a 501(c)4 non-profit organization that unites voices in raising awareness, improving conditions, and making all transportation choices fun and safe in Louisiana.

We envision a Louisiana whose communities are safely and easily traveled by active transportation. We believe
That these communities will be healthier, wealthier, and happier; with a stronger sense of place and connection to the environment. We want to help educate and empower these communities to build infrastructure that is safe and accommodating for vulnerable road users. We support active recreational activities and modes of transportation that improve the health and happiness of the community.

How we got here.

In 2014, advocates for Vulnerable Road Users from all across Louisiana gathered at the first annual Bike / Walk Summit, where a plan was made to join members of the various regional advocacy organizations into a statewide organization. A year later, Bike Walk Louisiana emerged as a registered 501(c)4 non-profit organization.

Who we are.

We represent ALL vulnerable road users in Louisiana. We are currently served by members of advocacy organizations in Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Lake Charles, and Shreveport - but we also have close connections to Lafayette, Monroe, and others.

Where we're going.

In 2018, we plan on helping pass a Vulnerable Road User bill through the Louisiana State Legislature, and to complete a statewide strategic plan for the coming years. Watch this space!
